in Emeryville, CA

Are ongoing weekly sessions not ideal for you?

A Therapy Intensive may be exactly what you’re looking for!

Want to see progress without months of weekly sessions?

Ready to get to the root of the problem, not just manage symptoms?

Need more time than 50 minutes to actually dig in and do the work?

Let’s dive in!

What is a Therapy Intensive?

Unhurried time to process trauma, reshape patterns, or expand performance goals.

An EMDR therapy intensive is a focused, short-term therapy format that allows for deep, accelerated healing over the course of a few powerful days. Instead of meeting for weekly 50-minute sessions, we work together for three 5-hour sessions within a single week.

This approach is ideal if you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or ready to move through something specific without the stop-and-start of weekly therapy. It can help you make meaningful progress in a fraction of the time, often reducing the total number of sessions needed overall.

Throughout the intensive, you’ll move through multiple rounds of EMDR with regular breaks for grounding, reflection, and nervous system regulation. I’ll support you in staying centered and resourced throughout the process.

Afterward, it’s normal to feel emotionally tender or mentally tired as your brain continues to process. I’ll help you prepare for post-intensive care and offer follow-up support to integrate what we’ve worked through.

Not everyone is a candidate for this kind of work, but if it’s right for you, a therapy intensive can offer a powerful path forward.

Therapy Intensives Can Help You…

Experience faster relief from anxiety, flashbacks, or emotional numbness

Build emotional resilience and feel more grounded in daily life

Reconnect in meaningful relationships

Understand your triggers and develop supportive coping strategies

Feel more empowered, present, and confident as you move through life

Why choose a Therapy Intensive?

Intensives can be more effective and more efficient.

  1. Save time. Weekly therapy often includes hidden time costs such as travel, settling in, and wrapping up. With intensives, every minute is focused time. You receive more support in fewer sessions without the weekly logistics.

  2. Get more value. Research shows that intensives can be more effective than weekly sessions. While the upfront cost is higher, they often lead to faster progress and can save you time and money over the long term.

  3. Feel better faster. Start feeling more focused at work, more present at home, and more at ease in your downtime without waiting months for results.

Your EMDR Intensive Experience

My EMDR intensive program is designed to create a powerful container for deep healing, within a calm and structured environment. From the first call to the final follow-up, each step is intentional and supportive, giving you the space, time, and focus needed for real transformation.

Step 1: Initial Consult (20 Minutes)

Our work begins with a brief video consultation to determine whether an intensive is the right fit for your needs. You’ll have a chance to ask questions, share what’s bringing you to therapy, and get a feel for how I work. If we decide to move forward, we’ll schedule your intake and reserve your intensive dates.

Step 2: Comprehensive Intake Session (90 Minutes)

Before we dive into the intensive, we meet for a longer intake session. Here, we explore your history, goals, and what you hope to gain from this experience.

Step 3: Preparation Workbook

You’ll receive a guided workbook to complete at home between our intake and your intensive. This is not busywork, it’s a therapeutic tool designed to help you clarify goals, track past experiences, identify themes, and reflect on your emotional landscape. It lays the groundwork for more focused, effective processing once your intensive begins.

Step 4: The Intensive Sessions (Three 5-Hour Sessions)

Your EMDR intensive takes place over three separate days within a two-week period.

Each day includes:

  • 10am–12pm – EMDR processing

  • 12pm–1pm – Lunch break

  • 1pm–3pm – EMDR processing

We’ll move through EMDR’s core phases:

  • Resourcing and Preparation – Grounding and nervous system regulation

  • Processing – Targeting and reprocessing memories with bilateral stimulation

  • Closure – Ensuring you leave each day feeling safe, contained, and resourced

  • Re-evaluation – At the start of each new session, we revisit how things have settled and decide what’s next

This pacing allows you to go deep without becoming overwhelmed, and the time between sessions gives your mind and body space to integrate the work.

Step 5: Post-Intensive Follow-Up

After your intensive, we schedule a follow-up call or session to check in, reflect on progress, and plan any next steps. If you're working with other care providers (like a primary therapist, psychiatrist, or prescriber), I’m happy to coordinate with them—always with your written consent—to support continuity of care.

If you reach your goals in fewer than the full 15 hours, we may end early. You’ll only be charged for the time used, with any unused hours prorated and refunded.

This format isn’t for everyone, but if you’re ready for focused, supported work, an EMDR intensive can offer powerful momentum toward feeling more clear, connected, and alive.
